Fashion or Death is operated by James Davis. The service is intended for adults aged 18 and over. You can read public news and articles without creating an account.
Use the support contact on this page for privacy questions, data requests, or concerns about a photo or AI result.
Your photo and Fit Check
Choosing a photo prepares a preview on your device. Detected faces are pixelated locally. Detection can miss faces, and pixelation does not guarantee anonymity: clothes, backgrounds, or other details may still identify someone. Review the preview before sending it. Only submit a photo you have permission to use.
When you tap “Check this photo,” the app sends the prepared copy, occasion, optional outfit context, tone, request identifier, and disclosure version to our Cloudflare service for AI styling feedback. The service removes JPEG metadata and sends the image to OpenRouter for the Dots model. No secondary model is currently enabled; if Dots is unavailable or returns an unusable result, Fit Check pauses or shows that it could not produce a safe, readable verdict. The original photo is kept locally for the active session and is not sent by this flow.
The AI requests use no-data-collection routing and free models only. They do not require zero data retention. OpenRouter and its downstream providers may retain data under their policies; we cannot promise immediate deletion by every recipient. Do not include sensitive information in your photo.
Our application code does not create a photo history or store photos or verdicts in its database. Temporary photo copies are cleared on replacement, reset, screen exit, or the app’s cache-cleanup paths. An interrupted app or operating system may leave a temporary file until cleanup runs. Your original library photo is not changed or deleted. Canceling a check cannot recall a request already sent.
OpenRouter privacy policy ↗Cloudflare privacy policy ↗Guest sessions, security, and deletion
Fit Check uses a guest session rather than an account. The signed session expires after 24 hours. On mobile the token is kept in secure device storage; on web it is held in a necessary session cookie. Reset guest session clears this local token or cookie, the selected photo, and the displayed result.
To enforce free limits and prevent abuse, our quota service keeps random guest and request identifiers, dates, attempt counts, and timestamps. Attempt and shopping records are removed on a scheduled cleanup after the 48-hour cutoff. Session-issuance counts use a keyed hash of the connecting IP address and a seven-day cleanup schedule. Resetting a session does not erase these abuse-prevention records or data already held by a provider.
For a privacy or deletion request, contact us using Support. Do not send the photo itself. We will explain what data we can identify and act on, any required verification, and any retention required for security or applicable law. There is no registered account or saved photo history to delete in this release.
AI-assisted fashion recap
The homepage may show a scheduled AI-generated fashion recap based on public publisher feeds and official fashion-calendar pages. To prepare it, our Worker sends selected publisher names, article titles, short feed excerpts, source URLs, publication dates, and public calendar facts to OpenRouter for processing by its downstream AI provider. No visitor photos, Fit Check results, account details, or user-written text are used to generate the recap.
The public recap expires after twelve hours. Saved recap records and supporting source metadata are marked for deletion after seven days and removed during a later briefing job; raw feed bodies are not saved with the recap. We request no-data-collection routing from the AI provider, but this does not require zero data retention. OpenRouter and its downstream provider may retain requests under their policies; we cannot promise immediate deletion by every recipient. The recap may omit context or get a detail wrong and should not replace the original reporting or independent verification.
OpenRouter privacy policy ↗News, images, video, and shopping
Publisher headlines and links are credited to their sources. Images and video thumbnails may load from third-party hosts, which receive ordinary connection data such as IP address and browser or device information. Opening a publisher, YouTube, or retailer connects you to that service and its own privacy practices.
Web retailer search loads Google’s embedded search when you submit a query. Google receives the search terms and connection data and may use cookies or show ads. If native shopping is enabled, opening suggestions sends the suggested search phrases to Google; public result HTML is passed to our parser. Fashion or Death does not receive your retailer checkout or payment information.
The guest cookie is used to operate and protect the service. This release does not include Google Analytics or advertising identifiers in our app code. Google search and other third parties have their own data practices.
Google privacy policy ↗Technical information
We record article-view events using only the public article identifier, and Fit Check request status and timing, to understand usage and service reliability. These app-generated events contain no visitor identifier, photo, or AI feedback. Counts represent displayed articles and requests, not unique people or proof that an article was read.
Cloudflare and other service providers process network and security information when serving requests. Their platform logs, backups, and retention are separate from the app’s photo and quota storage. Processing may take place outside your country.
This build does not enable our optional third-party crash-reporting service. Device and platform diagnostics may still be handled by your operating system or service providers under their policies.
Social posts and links
The homepage shows public Instagram, TikTok and YouTube posts. On web, our Worker reads fixed public sources and caches a small set of post information for up to five minutes, or a temporary failure for one minute. Native apps read those public sources on your device. Post images connect directly to the platforms’ image services. Social feed metadata is cached in memory for the session; we do not build a database of your social activity.
The social feed loads automatically. Platforms and their image services receive connection information, such as your IP address, when your device requests their content. The feed uses post cards rather than embedded profile widgets. Available posts may include pinned or older content; the combined feed does not guarantee chronological order or complete coverage. Tapping a card opens the original post on the original platform, under that platform’s privacy practices.

Fit Check and shopping are optional. You can browse news and articles without submitting a photo. Use your device or browser settings to manage permissions and site data. To raise a privacy concern or exercise rights available where you live, contact us through Support.
This policy will be updated when the service or its data practices change. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date and, where required, a new disclosure before data is shared.
